The McNicholas High School Theatre Department presents
Laughing Stock
The Archbishop McNicholas High School Theatre Department will present Laughing Stock, a contemporary comedy by Charles Morey about theatre and the people who devote their lives to this dynamic art form.
Gordon (played by Matt Gabbard), is an artistic director of The Playhouse Theatre in New Hampshire who must prepare his actors, managers, and designers to perform three plays (Hamlet, Dracula, and Charlie's Aunt) for the company's summer repertory season. The play begins with the audition process and goes through the closing night of the season.
Along the way, relationships within the company are formed, tested, and redefined as the members work, fight, and laugh their way through the summer. While the play has many hilarious moments and scenes, it also examines the ways in which groups who have dedicated themselves to something larger than themselves often take on many of the qualities of a family.
The show will run Friday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Jeanne Spurlock Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. They can be purchased online by selecting a show date above or by calling 513-231-3500 x5137.
