A fundraiser dinner & discussion to raise funds for our local food assessment.
Come join us for what will be a monthly event in Red Feather's Cellar for a dinner, drink, and viewing of a movie or discussion group. The topic will be around our local food system and/or sustainability. The dinner is a 3-course meal that's always locally inspired provided by Red Feather. All of the money from your purchase goes towards the local food assessment (see below for details).
NOTE: The price does not include a tip to your server(s), so we suggest a tip, please.
The event will be the last Thursday of the month (attend GreenDrinks right before in Bittercreek). Seating is limited to 20 so first come first served!
Note 2: The cellar is a little chilly any time of the year so bring a layer. Must be present to eat...
July 2010 Event:
- What: Movie - Join us for a screening of Idaho Public TV's "Outdoor Idaho: Eating Local". Idahoans turn out for more than 50 farmers markets around the state, taking part in an increasing national trend of eating food grown close to home. OUTDOOR IDAHO visits farmers markets, farmers, a creamery, a cheese producer, a small distribution system, a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and a restaurant end-user. Cameras also record a garden run by refugees for refugees to help rebuild their lives through growing food.
- When: Thursday, July 29, cellar doors open and dinner & movie @ 7:00PM. Stay later for discussion and mingling
Local Food Assessment: All proceeds will be used for a local food assessment to be performed by the Treasure Valley Food Coalition (TVFC). The assessment is essential to inform the development of a sustainable local food system through the evaluation of factors limiting the production and distribution of local food. A food assessment will answer questions such as:
- How much and what type of food is grown in the Treasure Valley?
- How much food and what type of food is needed for our Treasure Valley population?
- How much food is imported and exported?
- How is local food distributed?
- How accessible is the local food that is available?
- What factors impact the production, processing and distribution of local food?
