Food writer and editor Dianne Jacob, author of Will Write for Food, knows how to navigate the fine line between precision ("sauté") and dumbing down ("cook"). She's coming to Honolulu in December to share her insights at an all-day workshop titled "Food Writing for Food Lovers."
We invite foodies, bloggers, writers, and cookbook authors, as well as aspiring freelance writers, public relations professionals, caterers and chefs looking to publish a cookbook, and those who want to learn more about the food writing world.
Jacob will conduct exercises to improve writing and restaurant reviewing skills. She’ll discuss techniques to get a blog to stand out in a crowd, and divulge insider information about the cookbook publishing business. During the lunch hour she will sign and sell copies of her multiple award-winning book, Will Write for Food: The Complete Guide to Writing Cookbooks, Blogs, Reviews, Memoir, and More.
The limited-attendance event will cost $75, which includes class fees, samples, and a chance to win one of several exciting doorprizes from our sponsors (!). If you wish to reserve a discounted purchase of Dianne Jacob's book ahead of time, you may for a total fee of $91.
Location is at the Queen Emma Gardens Condos Tea Room.

About Dianne Jacob
Jacob grew up in a Jewish home in Vancouver, B.C., where her mother cooked Iraqi-Jewish, Indian-Jewish, Chinese, and Japanese foods, while her father encouraged her to become a writer. She attended journalism school in Canada and in California, and became a magazine editor, book company editor-in-chief, and writer.
Self-employed since 1996, she began freelancing on the subject of food, writing restaurant reviews, profiles and features for magazines and websites. She began teaching food-writing classes, and wrote Will Write for Food: The Complete Guide to Writing Cookbooks, Blogs, Reviews, Memoir, and More in 2005. The second edition, published in 2010, features a new chapter on food blogging.
