The book is now complete with 84 powerful conversations about the vibrancy of urban areas everywhere, and Detroit is the showcase of things getting done! It really looks superb: 180 pgs, embossed  cover, full color bleed.  We believe it makes for a very unique marketing piece about the city and the leaders sharing their inspired actions!

We are launching a project very soon, a book called MyTown Miracles, which is a series of portraits of unstoppable Detroit leaders, and COTS is our Charity Partner. A documentary around the project is in the works (see http://www.RollinOnDetroit.org)

Overview

Created and produced by veteran advertising photographer, Les Ward, MyTown Miracles raises positive awareness about Detroit by showcasing more than 70 of the region’s strong business and community leaders in a series of environmental photographic portraits.  

The project is more than a collection of striking portraits. It’s a public acknowledgement of the efforts and contributions made by notable individuals to the Greater Detroit area.  They are a diverse group, representing all walks of life, and socio-economic backgrounds.  They are captains of industry, merchants, writers, artists, restaurateurs, public servants, professionals, athletes, media and political leaders – all of whom are steadfast in their support of our region and a vital Detroit. 

The Display

Exhibited at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the MyTown Miracles gallery showcases the portraits and inspirational words of the MyTown Miracles participants to the world and sends a positive message about our region. Fabricated out of a stainless steel wire grid, the exhibit has endless configura tions and could travel to different locations.

The Book

The portraits and inspirational words of the participants will be bound into a beautiful coffee table book.  The book will sit upon the desks, shelves and coffee tables of those who support Detroit.  The book will inspire those who peruse its pages while promoting conversation about the powerful intellectual energy that thrives in this region.  

 About Les Ward

Born and raised in Detroit, Les Ward is president of Les Ward Photography Inc., an advertising photography business in West Bloomfield, Mich.  Throughout his 30-year career, Ward’s automotive and lifestyle clients have included Chrysler, General Motors, Audi, Volkswagen, Mazda, Subaru, Jacuzzi and Warner Music.  Ward has won numerous major local and national creative industry awards including a Mobius Award and several International Andy and Caddy Awards (now, the local D Award).  He has also been selected several times by jury for inclusion in the prestigious Communication Arts Photo Annual.  Ward attended the College for Creative Studies and Cass Technical High School both in Detroit.  His achievements outside of photography are many.  In addition to being an accomplished drummer, Ward is a distance runner who has qualified for the Boston Marathon seven times, a Federal Aviation Administration certified private pilot with an instrument rating and a devoted father.  For more information about Les Ward visit leswardphoto.com.
